Dr Russell graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1988, and joined the practice in 1993.
His special interests include minor surgery, joint injections and substance misuse.
Dr Jo Sherrington MBChB, DCH, MRCGP
Dr Sherrington graduated from Liverpool University in 1989, and joined the practice in 1999.
Her special interests include the menopause and hormone replacement therapy, dermatology and rheumatology.
Dr Natalie Burns MBChB, MRCGP, DRCOG
Dr Burns graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2007, and joined the practice in 2011.
Her special interests include palliative care, diabetes, medicines management and ECG interpretation.
Dr Anne Gillies MBBCh(Wales), DRCOG, DFSRH, FRCGP
Dr Gillies graduated from the University of Wales in 1988, and joined the practice in 2012.
Her special interests include women's health (including contraception and sexual health) and GP training.
Dr Marcus Hawkesford BM, MRCS, MRCGP
Dr Hawkesford graduated from the University of Southampton in 2006, and joined the practice in 2018.
His special interests include minor surgery, joint injections, orthopaedics and child health.
Dr Ramnik Hanspaul MBChB, DRCOG, DFSRH
Dr Hanspaul graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2007, and joined the practice in 2019.
Her special interests include women's health (including contraception and sexual health) and respiratory disease.
Dr Kunal Chawathey MB BS, MRCGP, DRCOG
Dr Kunal Chawathey graduated from the University of Mumbai in 2000, and joined the practice in 2019.
His special interests include diabetes, minor surgery and GP training.
The doctors practice together as a non-limited partnership.
We provide training opportunities for GP registrars - fully qualified junior doctors who are training under our supervision to become general practitioners. Our current GP registrars are Dr Arwa Abdel-Aal and Dr Guy Ratu.
Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Tony McIlwee RGN, RScN (Nurse Prescriber)
Our advanced nurse practitioner, Tony, offers on-the-day emergency appointments to diagnose and treat a wide variety of urgent problems and illnesses, including prescribing medication. Unfortunately, he is not trained to manage patients with gynaecological, pregnancy-related problems or mental health problems. Reception will be able to advise you whether your problem could be managed by Tony, or would require a GP.
Sister Lynne Lockley RGN
Sister Maxine Butler RGN
Our practice nurses can help you with your minor illnesses, and are trained in health promotion and screening. Their skills include giving injections, taking smears, managing asthma and other chronic lung diseases, diabetes, blood pressure problems, family planning and HRT monitoring.
Nurse Trevor Wilkinson RGN
Our practice nurse, Trevor, can give injections, help you with minor illnesses and manage blood pressure problems. He can carry out a range of procedures such as taking blood, doing heart tracings (ECGs), new patient health checks, health promotion and screening. Trevor is also responsible for learning disability and dementia reviews, along with diabetic checks and contraceptive injections.
Health Care Assistant
Our Health Care Assistants are not nurses but are trained to carry out a range of procedures such as taking blood, taking blood pressure readings, doing heart tracings (ECGs), and new patient health checks.
Other Health Professionals
The CCG also employ district nurses, midwives, health visitors and counsellors who work within the surgery. If you wish to see a counsellor you will need a doctor's referral.
Appointments and/or further information are available via reception. The health visitors are based at Hawkesley Health Centre and the direct telephone number is 0121 466 3860 extension 53541.
Lin Guest is our Practice Manager and she deals with the operational and administrative management of the practice, and will personally help answer any queries or complaints which you may have about our service. She welcomes any comments you have about the running of the practice, including any constructive suggestions for improvement of our services.
Our Reception team are led by Reception Manager, Joanne Williams. They offer a warm welcome to the surgery, and are always eager to help guide patients to book appointments with the right person to meet their needs. The Reception team are grateful for your patience at busy times.
Other valued and essential members of the team are secretaries, administrative staff, receptionists and cleaning staff.
We are a teaching practice, and we often receive medical students from Birmingham Medical School. You will be informed when students are in the practice, and have the right to request to be seen alone by your doctor if you wish.
